NOMA Colorado facilitated a virtual event where attendees learned about the challenges of experiencing microaggressions in the workplace and architecture industry, especially as a minority. This educational session explained the meanings of the terminology best used to articulate issues most frequently experienced by minority races. In addition, we reviewed the history of micro aggressive behavior, how to identify it, and how to respond to it. Beyond just learning to identify these subconscious behaviors within ourselves, we also learned how to identify it in others, coping mechanisms, process skills and creative ways to resolutions. Attendees learned from three amazing industry professionals and then after participated in a live Q&A where these topics were further explored in a candid, compassionate, and transparent manner. This event created a safe space for all race, ethnic, and gender groups to be empowered in knowledge, awareness, and understanding.
