Ron Abo

Founding Chapter President

Ron established his architectural practice in 1976 and he continues to practice as the principal architect for The Abo Group, Inc.  Ron has been past president of AIA Denver and AIA Colorado.  He is a former member of the State of Colorado Board of Licensure for Architects, Engineers and Professional Land Surveyors; past chair of the Asian Chamber of Commerce; and past chair of the Denver Asian Pacific American Commission.  Currently Ron is the President of the Board of Trustees for Savio House, a child welfare agency, a member of the Denver Lions Club and chair of the Wheat Ridge Building Code Review Committee.

Patricia Joseph

Founding Chapter Co-Vice President

Patricia Joseph joins NOMA5280 as Co-President Elect with over seven years of experience. She is a Designer II at Cuningham Group Architecture, Inc. in their local office in Denver, Colorado.  She received her Bachelors of Science in Architecture from Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston, Massachusetts and received her Masters of Architecture from SCI-Arc (Southern California Institute of Architecture) in Los Angeles, California. She is motivated and excited about creating and thinking within the three-dimensional space first.  She also serves her community through her participation with DAFCAL, CANstruction and her local church organization. 

Flory Hamstra

Assoc. AIA, NOMA LEED GA
Founding Chapter Co-Vice President

Flory Hamstra is a  professional designer in the state of Colorado with knowledge and experience across various disciplines including architecture, urban planning, interior design and renewable energy. She currently works as a project manager for the solar company Independent Power Systems (IPS) located in Boulder, CO. Prior to IPS, Flory spent many years in the architecture industry and was involved in numerous projects in the Denver metro area and the front range. In addition to her work in the solar industry, Flory teaches undergraduate studio in the College of Architecture and Planning (CAP) at the University of Colorado Denver, where she graduated with a master of architecture (M.Arch) in 2011. She also sits on the college’s advisory board. Flory is a founding member of the National Organization of Minority Architects, Colorado Chapter — NOMA Colorado (established in 2020) and currently serves as the chapter’s vice president. She is a driving force in the architecture+design industry’s movement to promote equity, diversity and inclusion.

 

Annicia Streete

Founding Chapter Parliamentarian

Annicia was born in Trinidad and Tobago and immigrated to the United States to pursue her education and career in the architecture profession. Annicia Streete is an architecture and construction practitioner at Catena Construction and Sprocket Design+Planning with over 14 years of experience. In addition to practice, she is also a faculty member of the College of Architecture and Planning at the University of Colorado, Denver. Her educational background is in engineering and architecture where she holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology in Rapid City, South Dakota and a Master’s of Architecture from the University of Colorado, Denver. 

Mladen Jovanov

Founding Chapter Communications Manager

Mladen is Architectural Engineer experienced in the planning, design, and construction of diverse projects currently working as Project Architect at Archipelago Group.  He has an extensive background in directing all project phases, from design through project completion. His experience includes commercial office design and construction, higher education, hospitals, aviation work – design and construction of 2 airports, a shopping mall, and a correctional facility. A licensed Architect in Macedonia, Mladen is actively working on getting his license in the State of Colorado. 

Nick Caravella

Founding Chapter Executive Director

Nick joins the team bringing his experience in both firms and the construction technology sector as a leader and innovator in practice. Throughout his career, Nick has volunteered with the American Institute of Architects and local communities to develop opportunities for emerging professionals to gain experience toward licensure and grow their networks. His philosophy that good design starts with good listening carries over into his work in building communities like NOMA Colorado that look to support and serve their members.

Nicci Gano

Founding Chapter Treasurer

With an associate’s degree in residential architecture and certificates in business management, Nicci has gone from a drafter and kitchen designer in Northcentral Wisconsin to a truss designer in West Tennessee. She later landed in an administrative role at an AE firm in Jackson, Tennessee. There, Nicci gained an in-depth knowledge and garnered experience of the inner workings of the AEC industry. It was 2019 when Nicci took her passion and skills to Denver, Colorado where she now works in an administrator at Cuningham Group Architecture.  Pursuing her compassion for people and inspiration from nature, Nicci recently began studying and pursuing becoming a Certified Forest Therapy Guide with the Association of Nature and Forest Therapy.
